The Competency Approach, a new vision of teaching

Today, study time is no longer enough to acquire all the knowledge we need to live and work in our constantly changing society. For a long time it was believed that the solution consisted of increasing the volume of subjects and programs.

However, we see today that teaching is too superficial and students do not know how to apply what they have learned and therefore do not have the key to academic or professional success.

It is from this logic that POLYTECH MONASTIR has established the APP in its more concrete, more active and more sustainable teaching process to prepare its students for an increasingly demanding job market, characterized by competition.

PBL is an educational approach that allows the student to fully engage in the construction of their knowledge in interaction with their peers and their environment. This approach invites the teacher to act as a privileged mediator between the student and the knowledge bases where they are placed in a problem-solving situation.

It thus makes it possible to generate learning through the realization of a concrete production. The project allows students to identify and formulate problems and ultimately to develop, understand and manipulate applicable knowledge which translates into their evaluation which is not limited to a numerical mark on the report card but goes beyond and affects his progress and his way of learning while measuring his achievements.

Thus, the student who becomes aware of his progress develops pleasure in learning and will be more motivated to catch up in areas where he has gaps and to surpass himself in those where he excels.

As a result, our key to success lies in our SCRIP-TECH educational and technological research and innovation coordination service, which monitors the progress and application of this process without forgetting the qualified teaching force.
